50 years following in the footsteps of the dinosaurs’ ancestors in the Trient Valley

Come and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the discovery of the archosaur footprints!
Set off to explore this exceptional palaeontological heritage on guided walks led by mountain guides, or visit the sites at your own pace.
Once there, specialists from the Geneva Natural History Museum will take you through the history of this major discovery, reveal the secrets of these footprints dating back over 240 million years, and answer all your questions.
Saturday 15 August
Émosson – Main footprint site
Departure from the Émosson Information Point opposite the restaurant

Walking time: 5 hours 30 minutes

Les Marécottes – Emaney footprint site
Departure from the top of the Les Marécottes cable car
Distance: 13.5 km
Elevation gain/loss: +700 m / -1,350 m
Walking time: 6 hours
Time: 9.00 am – approx. 6.30 pm
Level: Very good physical fitness and confidence in the mountains
Note: Participants must make their own way to the top of the cable car; the cost of the cable car ride is not included in the registration fee.

For self-guided walks, the organiser reminds participants that they are responsible for their own safety. They must carry equipment suitable for the weather and the route. They are responsible for their own safety and release the organiser from any liability in the event of an accident, injury or loss of equipment. They must hold accident insurance and personal liability cover.
The walks will go ahead subject to weather conditions. Registered participants will be informed the day before by the guides. In the event of adverse weather conditions that compromise participants’ safety, the organiser reserves the right to cancel the themed walks and will offer an alternative.
